Marvin Ray (Marv) Cok, 68, passed away Monday, August 13, at his home. He was born in Celeryville, Ohio, on Sept 9, 1943. He was the youngest son of the late Ben and Catherine Cramer Cok. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Marv attended Calvin College in Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. In years past, he operated the family-owned Spiffy Clean Coin Laundry on Reidville Road. Until his recent semi-retirement, he was the owner of Marvin R. Cok’s Tax Service for over 25 years. Marv’s professional affiliations include the South Carolina Association of Public Accountants and the National Society of Public Accountants. He also served as a volunteer for Mobile Meals.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane Roeder Cok and two daughters, Cynthia Jean Cok of Spartanburg and Linda Cok Clark (Scott) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Renee Clark, Alexander Ray Clark and Courtney Jean Clark; brothers, Paul Cok (Marilyn), Willard, Ohio, Earl Cok (Janice) Celeryville, Ohio; sisters, Audrey Cok Fridsma (Bill), Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marilyn Cok Gjeltema (Bert), Gallup , New Mexico. He was predeceased by brothers Ralph, Stanley and Alan, and sister Dorothy Cok Devries.
Marv enjoyed golf, woodworking and breakfast with his buddies. He was a loving father and grandfather and was affectionately known as ‘Papa’ to his grandchildren.
A celebration of Marv’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Reverend Steve Wise and the Reverend Trey Kuhne. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
