Spartanburg, SC- Aurelio Acevedo, 82, husband of Nilda Gomez Acevedo, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2012.
On November 12, 1929, Aurelio was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to the late Jose and Maria Ramos Acevedo, Sr. Aurelio honorably served in the United States Army as a tank driver for the 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels.” He attended Milestones Church.
In addition to his wife Nilda, he is survived by two sons, Hector Acevedo and his wife Diane of Schenectady, NY and Robert Acevedo and his wife Erin of Ipswich, MA; two daughters, Maggie DiBlasio and her husband John of Moore, SC and Mini Hoffman and her husband Chris of Duncan, SC; twelve grandchildren, Aaron Acevedo and his wife Jeannine of Amsterdam, NY, Adam Acevedo and his wife Dianne of Delanson, NY, Michael Osborne of Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC, Maria Batson and her husband Van of Moore, SC, Nicholas Hoffman and his wife Jessica of Duncan, SC, Maria-Katherine Acevedo of Schenectady, NY, Sam Acevedo of Schenectady, NY, Alec Acevedo of Schenectady, NY, Ben Acevedo of Schenectady, NY, Joshua Hoffman of Duncan, SC, Rose Acevedo of Ipswich, MA, and Lily Acevedo of Ipswish, MA; six great grandchildren, Ethan DiBlasio of Moore, SC, Isabelle Acevedo of Delanson, NY, Juliet Batson of Moore, SC, Bella Wendland-Osborne of Sacramento, CA, Dillon Hoffman of Duncan, SC, Franklyn Acevedo of Delanson, NY and Brayden Hoffman of Duncan, SC; one brother, Jose M. Acevedo, Jr.; and one sister, Aurelia Caban, both of Schenectady, NY.
Aurelio was predeceased by his brother, Felix Acevedo of Brooklyn, NY in 1990.
A celebration of Ace’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM today, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Reverend Hub Blankenship. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The committal will be held at 2:00 PM at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The Family will also receive friends at the home of Aurelio and Nilda following the committal service.
