Samuel Franklin Zimmerman

Spartanburg, SC- Samuel Franklin Zimmerman, 86, husband of Evelyn Smith Zimmerman, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Sam was born on March 24, 1926 to the late John Henry and Gladys Hayes Zimmerman. He attended Spartanburg High School and later joined the US Navy where he honorably served our country in WWII. Sam was a man who understood the importance of family and friends and valued his time with them. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and corporate sales. Sam was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. He was also a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his wife Evelyn, he is survived by his son, Stan Zimmerman and his wife Pamela Strom of Marietta, GA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Todd Lowe and Dr. Keith Taylor. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In remembrance of Sam, memorials may be made to Cedar Springs Baptist Church, 140 Cedar Spring Place, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
