Myrtle Sherbert Simpson

Spartanburg, SC- Myrtle S. Simpson, 81, wife of the late James H. Simpson, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Myrtle was born on September 13, 1931 in Spartanburg County to the late Grady Bryant and Mary Olive Burdette Dillard. Myrtle was a member of Wellford Baptist Church. “Ma” is survived by her daughter, Carolyn S. McDaniel and her husband Brother of Laurens, SC; two sons, Rick and his wife Linda Simpson of Fairmont, SC, and Tommy and his wife Tammy Simpson of Lyman, SC; seven grandchildren, Tonya and Spencer Hughes, Tammy Stephens, Candi Tennyson, Richard Simpson, Kyle and AJ Simpson; fourteen great grandchildren; and her sister, Ann Frey of Enoree, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Ernestine Huckaby; and one brother, James A. Sherbert. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 3, 2012, 10:00am at Dunbar Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00am, following the visitation, in the Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Wood Memorial Park. In remembrance of Myrtle, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 101 East Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the home of her son, Rick.
