Spartanburg, SC- Ruby W. Coan, wife of the late Dr. Pep Coan, died on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
A native of Fairfax, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late David A. Williams and the late Ruth Hunt Williams. Ruby was a graduate of the University of Alabama, School of Nursing in Birmingham. She was past treasurer of Spartanburg County Medical Auxiliary and past member of Elizabeth Heath Study Club. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg. Ruby was happiest when she was surrounded by young people and she loved taking care of all of God’s creatures.
Surviving are two sons, John and his wife Betty Coan of Spartanburg, Dr. Marc and his wife Teresa Coan of Clarksville, GA; two daughters, Lynn and her husband Dennis Carroll of Alexandria, VA, and Tracy and her husband Dr. Ben Massey of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Michael and Bryan Coan of Spartanburg, Ben and Sarah Carroll of Alexandria, VA, Grant, McKenzie, and Eli Coan of Clarksville, GA; a sister, Patty Beaird of High Point, NC; six nephews and six nieces.
Ruby was predeceased by her brother, Capt. Dave Williams of Coronado, CA.
A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 680 Nazareth Church Road, Moore, SC 29369, officiated by Reverend Laura Palmer. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
