Vivian Brockman Anderson

Spartanburg, SC- Vivian “Bib” Brockman Anderson, 88, wife of the late John Crawford Anderson, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Born and raised in Sugar Tit, SC, Vivian was the daughter of the late William Gary and Shirley Mae Yeargin Brockman. She attended Woodruff High School, class of 1941, and was a graduate of Winthrop College, class of 1945, with a Bachelor’s Degree in home economics. She married John Anderson on Groundhog Day of 1946 after a two-month whirlwind romance. For many years Vivian served on the Georgia Cleveland Home board and volunteered for Spartanburg Regional Hospital. She was a lifelong member of the Roebuck Garden Club and was a member of Reidville Presbyterian Church for over sixty-six years. In 2004, she received the Medal of Honor in the Arts from Winthrop University. Vivian is survived by two daughters, Elaine Sarratt and her husband, Bill of Spartanburg, their children, Sally Sarratt of Greenville, SC, David Sarratt and wife, Margaret, and their children Gordon and Charles of Brooklyn, NY; daughter, Jeannette Winn and her husband, Marshall, of Greenville, SC, and their children, Richard Winn and wife, Bonnie, of Oberursel, Germany, and Eleanor Winn of Charlottesville, VA; two sons, Jack Anderson and wife, Debbie, of North Roebuck and their children Ashley Ford and husband, Grant, of Chicago, IL, and John Anderson of Spartanburg; son, Dean Anderson and wife, Avis, of Spartanburg, and their children, Ken, Jean, and Katherine Anderson, all of Spartanburg, SC. She was also predeceased by a son, William Buist Anderson, and three brothers, Harold, Arnold, and Douglas Brockman. The family will receive friends at the home, Friday, December 14, 2012, 4:00pm-7:00pm, 225 Munna Drive, Moore. A funeral service will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Reidville Presbyterian Church, conducted by Reverend Todd Buchner, Reverend Dr. Kirk Neely, and Father Jeffrey Tudgay. Burial will be in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
