Mathilde (Thildy) Buob Zollinger of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her home.
A native of Switzerland, she was the wife of 55 years to the late Otto Zollinger and the daughter of the late Eugen Buob and Anna Graf Buob. She grew up in Rorschacherberg, Switzerland and graduated from Toechterinstitut Stella Maris. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and the Swiss American Society. Thildy will always be remembered for her loving smile, her passion for reading, traveling and playing Jass. She had a tremendous love of God and cherished time with her family.
She is survived by four children; Marcus Zollinger and his wife Jane Brockman Zollinger of Moore, SC; a daughter Helen Zollinger Elston and her boyfriend Terry Smith, both of Spartanburg; a daughter Rita Zollinger of Spartanburg; and a son, Richard V. Zollinger and his wife Janene Workman Zollinger, Spartanburg.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren; a granddaughter Pamela Zollinger and husband Daniel Robinson of NC; a granddaughter Kristin Zollinger Lacey and husband C. Travis Lacey, Jr. of Spartanburg; a granddaughter Dominique Zollinger Hill and husband Austin, of Wiesbaden , Germany; a grandson Stephan Otto Zollinger of Clarkston, MI; a grandson Harrison Grant Zollinger, a granddaughter Isabella Ivey Zollinger and a granddaughter Victoria Rose Zollinger all of Spartanburg. She is also survived by three great grandchildren; Crighton Austin Hill, C. Hampton Lacey and Annabelle Elaine Hill.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Beerle, Hedwig Schlachter, Ida Weber, also a brother Eugen Buob, all in Switzerland.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church conducted by Rev. Timothy Gahan. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the service in the Church Conference Center.
