Lawson Hayes III

Spartanburg, SC- Lawson Hayes III, beloved son of Jean and Lawson “Boo” Hayes, Jr., died January 11, 2013. Lawson was a graduate of Christ School in Arden, NC and the College of Charleston with a BA degree in Communications. He also graduated from the National Outdoor Leadership School in Chile, South America. Lawson was currently enrolled at USC Upstate. He began his business career with Ferguson Enterprises in the management training program and served in the Plumbing and HVAC divisions in sales and operations management in Asheville, NC, Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg, SC. Lawson’s special interests were his family, cooking, and all outdoor activities including camping and hiking with companion Husky, “Niko”. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Garrett Hayes Kaminsky, her husband, Ross D. Kaminsky, and their daughter, Hayes Isabelle Kaminsky of Savannah, GA; his adored daughter, Catherine Jean “CJ” Hayes of Asheville, NC; maternal grandfather, Captain John H. Garrett, Jr. of Richmond, VA; aunts and uncles, Eaddo and Peter Kiernan of Greenwich, CT, San and Jack West of Houston, TX, Rose and John Garrett of Newport News, VA, Terry and Jack Cassidy of Raleigh, NC, and Gina McKinnon of Richmond, VA; and sixteen cousins. A celebration of Lawson’s life will be Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 4:00pm at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, officiated by the Reverend Ned Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Advent Foundation, 141 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to the charity of one’s choice.
