Mary Vail St. Georges Chapman

Mary Vail St. Georges-Chapman Spartanburg, SC – Mary Vail St. Georges-Chapman, 79, wife of the Hon. Robert Foster Chapman and the Late Laurent M. St. Georges, died Thursday, February 14, 2013. Born on June 6, 1933 in Amboy, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Marion O’Brien Vail.  Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High school, South Amboy, NJ, class of 1950 and received a BA degree in Home Economics from Georgian Court College, Lakewood, NJ.  She was previously employed with General Dynamics in New York, NY and the US Department of State in Washington, DC. Mary was involved in real estate all of her life.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was also an innovative hostess. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Joseph M. St. Georges and his children, Laurent and Sean of Santa Clarita, CA; her daughter Catherine V. M. St. Georges (Brian Chamberlain) and their children Joseph, John and Mary Margaret; four brothers, John T. Vail of Maui, HI, Paul J. Vail (Ann Marie) of Northport, FL, Joseph M. Vail (Barbara) of Upper Montclair, NJ, James P. Vail (Jean) of Hazlet, NJ; two sisters, Kathleen T. Vail and Su Ann Vail Gilger (Robert) of Lexington, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by two sisters, Shiela Vail Inman and Celeste Vail Tyrrel. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 18, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC, officiated by Father Timothy M. Gahan.
