Spartanburg, SC- Thomas Ray Fuller, 80, husband of Dorothy Howell Fuller, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
Tom was born August 3, 1932 in Valliant, Oklahoma to the late Joseph Newton Fuller and Ethel Setzer Fuller Morgan. He was a 1954 graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he played basketball and served as student body president. Tom was recruited to play basketball for the Phillips 66’ers, and was eventually employed with Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK. Tom honorably served his country in the U.S Air Force. After his commitment, he returned to Phillips Petroleum. In 1968, he became president and owner of Service Oil Co. in Spartanburg, SC. In 1981, he served as president of “SCPMA” South Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association. Tom was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by two sons, Mike Fuller and his wife, Anne, of Greer, SC, their children, Catherine F. Butler and her husband, Michael, of Greenville, SC, and Rob Fuller and his wife, Melissa, of New Orleans; son, Steve Fuller and his wife, Anna, and their children, Stephen and Alexandra Fuller, all of Bluffton, SC; one brother, Bill Fuller of Cherry Log, GA; and two great grandchildren, Hayes and Cate Butler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2013, 2:00pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, officiated by Reverend Frank Lybrand and Reverend Dr. Tim Williams.
Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Heritage Mausoleum.
Family and friends are welcome to the home following the service.
