Spartanburg, SC – Norma Burgess Jewell, 82, wife of the late William Fred Jewell, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Norma was born on July 9, 1930 in Gaffney, SC to the late Robert and Nellie Wood Burgess. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School. Norma retired as manager of The Skillet, downtown Spartanburg, after working over 40 years in various restaurants. She was a member of United Baptist Church.
Norma is survived by her son, Mike Harris (Susan) of Fort Mill, SC; her daughter, Debbie Harrill of Spartanburg; and a brother, Roy Burgess of Irmo, SC. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Amy H. Houk, Heather Pearson, and Austan Gurley; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Helms and Maryanne Houk.
Norma was predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Max Burgess; and a sister, Rhea Clary.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 20th, 11am-12pm at Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow the visitation in the chapel, officiated by Reverend Robert Emory.
A private committal will be held.
