Inman, SC - Ruth Helen Vassey Maxwell, 97, of 6511 New Cut Road, died on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Camp Care Nursing Home. Born on June 3, 1916, in Union County, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Landrum and Forrestine Kathleen Jolley Vassey. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Haven Maxwell. She was a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church and was retired from Butte Knit.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Mike Ravan, and a son and daughter-in-law, Edward Haven Maxwell, Jr. (Van) and Susan, all of Inman; three grandchildren, Todd Ravan (Wendy) of Greer, Chris Fletcher (Mark) of Boiling Springs, and Andrew Maxwell (Whitney) of Hermitage, TN, and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Lillie Mae Vassey Owens and Ophelia Vassey Rifflard, three brothers, James, John, and Harold Vassey, two grandsons, Nathaniel and Matthew Maxwell, and an infant son.
The family would like to express sincerest gratitude to special friend Faye Coley and the caregivers of Camp Care and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, June 22nd, at Inman Mills Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jack Hames.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
A private interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
The family is at their respective homes.
