Jefferson Jerome Oakes

Greenville, SC- Jeff Oakes, 73, husband of Deb D. Oakes, passed away peacefully at Greenville Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning, August 11, 2013. Born August 21, 1939 in Danville, VA, Jeff was the son of the late Jefferson Harmon and Katherine Alden Oakes. He honorably served his country in the U.S Air Force. Jeff retired as Business Manager of transportation and distribution for Milliken & Co. in Spartanburg, SC after 34years of service. He was treasurer and a member of the Carolina Golf Board, and was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. In addition to his wife, Jeff is survived by a daughter, Stephanie D. LeCroy and her husband, Shane, of Greenville, SC; son, Aaron H. Davis IV and his wife, Kara, of Greer, SC; his sister, Barbara O. Laney and her husband, Mike, of Winston Salem, NC; and four grandchildren, Hannah and Briggs LeCroy, and Landon Jefferson and Livia Davis. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday, August 16th, 11:00am in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307, officiated by The Reverend Dr. Pamela Patrick Cole. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 301 N.
