Rina Riva Herbst

Spartanburg, SC- Rina Riva Herbst, 70, wife of Reiner H. Herbst, died Saturday, November 9, 2013. Rina was born January 10, 1943 in Udine, Italy. She came to the USA in 1965 and shortly after became an American citizen. Rina was previously employed with Butte Knit, Este Lauder, and Belk before she retired. She enjoyed cooking Italian food, especially lasagna, with her granddaughter Hannah. Rina was a passionate football fan, especially of the Clemson Tigers. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tanya Jackson Hilton (Justin) of Lexington, SC, and Tracy Pryor (Tim) of Macon, GA; one son, Glenn Jackson (Mary) of Spartanburg, SC; three grandchildren, Hannah Caroline Jackson, Jackson R. Hilton, and Amelia Grace Hilton. She is also survived by two brothers, Renato Riva and Franco Bastiunatti, both of Italy. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday, November 15th, 9:00am at Dunbar Funeral Home. The funeral mass will begin in the chapel following the visitation at 10:00am, officiated by Father Ted Kalaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, 2575 Reidville Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
