Robert "Big Bob" Edwards

Moore, SC- Robert Edwards, 83, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013. Born August 22, 1930 in Oak Park, Illinois, he was the son of the late William and May Edwards. Mr. Edwards served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and spent his career in sales as a sales engineer. “Big Bob” was an active member of the Middle Tyger YMCA and “the Y gang.” He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife Phyllis. Surviving are his children, Sandra Edwards of Indiana, Susan Novak (Wally) of Spartanburg, SC, Peter Bray (Margaret) of Connecticut, Allison Eckebrecht of California, Kim Lindley of California, and Larry Deguisne of Illinois; one brother, Art Edwards of California; grandchildren, Seth (Ashley), Adam (Heather), Jason, Mickey (Kika), Jennifer (A.J.), and Heather; great grandchildren, Devin, Stella, and Aubrey. The family will have a private service at a later time. A reception will be held in memory of “Big Bob” for “the Y gang” at the Middle Tyger YMCA in Moore on December 6, 2013 at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen, 136 S. Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
