Spartanburg, SC - Lawrence “Larry” E. Gosnell, 79, husband of Conalee M. Konduros Gosnell, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Lexington, SC.
Larry was born July 23, 1934 in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Lawrence E. Gosnell, Sr. and Elizabeth Mace Gosnell. He grew-up in the SC Low Country, attended Conway High School, and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina – where he was a 4-year letterman in football, and subsequently served as president of the USC Letterman’s Association for his beloved Gamecocks. He had an accomplished and varied career as a contractor, working for Exxon, and serving as Chief Appraiser for SC’s HUD office. He was also recognized for his exemplary skills as a coach and educator.
Larry was known for his strong faith and abiding love for God and family. He was a deeply committed member of Spartanburg’s Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was passionate about his involvement in men’s bible study, small group activities, Hardee’s coffee club, and cooking breakfast for the Spartanburg High School athletic teams on a weekly basis.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by three sons, Steve Gosnell (Vivian) of Conway, SC, David Gosnell (Betsy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Billy Gosnell (Carin) of Havelock, NC; two step sons, Gregg Konduros (Cindy) of Lexington, SC, and Sam Konduros (Aphrodite) of Greenville, SC; one step daughter, Gia K. Diamaduros (Pete) of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Bill Gosnell (Judi) of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Aurie Richardson of Summerville, SC; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia G. Russell.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 1st, 2pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiated by Dr. Paul Petersen and Reverend Stephen Wise.
A reception will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall.
