Ellen Dean Berry

Spartanburg, SC- Ellen D. Berry, 67, wife of John “Pete” Berry, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at her home. Born March 21, 1946 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lola Smith Dean. Ellen was owner and operator of Pete’s Upholstery. She was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church where she has served as a GA leader, WMU leader, and a children’s Sunday school teacher. Ellen was a loving mother and Nana to her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John “Petey” Berry III (Allison); her daughter, Lesa Gardner (Rodney) of Inman, SC; nine grandchildren; and one great grandson. She is predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Berry Burrell. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 12th, 11am at Eastside Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation, 12noon, in the Sanctuary, officiated by Pastor Mike Royal. In remembrance of Ellen, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1850 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family is at the home.
