Spartanburg, SC- Grace R. Bobo, who was deeply loved and cherished, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014.
Mrs. Bobo was born July 6, 1923, in Greenville, SC, and was a native of Roebuck, SC, for 64 years. She was a daughter of the late Seafe R. and Alma Casey Rhodes. Mrs. Bobo was a retired educator from Spartanburg County School Districts 5 and 6. She was a graduate of Duncan High School, Lander College, and received a Master’s degree in Library Science from Furman University. Mrs. Bobo was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, The Roebuck Garden Club, and The Roebuck Improvement Association. She enjoyed teaching and can best be remembered for her dedicated service as a Sunday School teacher and a member of various church and community activities.
In addition to her loving husband of 64 years, A.S. Bobo Sr., she is survived by two sons, Austin S. Bobo, Jr. (Sheryl) of Anderson, SC, Steven Mark (Carol) of Roebuck, SC; one grandson, Christopher Joseph Bobo (Alyssa) of Anderson, SC; a brother, Curtis Rhodes of Wellford, SC; and a sister, Juanita Rhodes Crenshaw (James) of Nashville, TN.
Ms. Bobo was predeceased by a beloved son, Joseph Daniel Bobo; and three brothers, Marvin, Randolph and S.R. Rhodes.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 12th, 2:00pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm in the sanctuary, officiated by Reverend Jim Oliver.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The last years of Mrs. Bobo’s life were enriched by the love and care of her special caregivers, Dawn Bartlett, Lula Black, Pearlie Brinker, Connie Douglas, Pam Larsen, Areulior McClarkin, Shirleen Porter, Donna Steadman, and Kim Wyatt.
