Spartanburg, SC- Richard J. Marsh, 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2014 after a brief unexpected illness.
He was born December 7, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. Dick raised his family in Westchester County, Stockholm, Sweden and enjoyed weekend trips to Hillsborough, New Hampshire and Ogunquit Maine. Richard was a graduate of University of Connecticut in Business and earned a Master’s Degree in Human Resources. He began his career in advertising in Rochester, New York, and later New York City. Later he became an international business consultant who founded and led Strategetic Business Development Services International. Over 30 years his expertise in creativity, innovation, new product development and marketing strategy was sought out by major brands around the globe. In 2008 Dick was named as a fellow for the International Society for Professional Innovation Management, for his work creating and leading within the organization. Dick traveled the world, and loved Broadway shows, symphony performances, and skiing. He retired in Estero Florida where he was active at the United Church of Christ in Fort Myers. Richard just recently relocated to Spartanburg to be closer and spend time with his family. He treasured special breakfasts with his grandchildren at their favorite restaurant.
Mr. Marsh is survived by his son, Jamie Marsh of Los Angeles, CA; and his daughter, Amy Wood and her husband, Mike, of Spartanburg. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren: Jami Wood, Brianna Wood, and Gracie Wood, all of Spartanburg. He treasured his loving friend Irene Helms.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Catherine Ann Marsh; and his parents, Claire Mangimelli Marsh and Thomas Anthony Marsh.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, January 12th at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dr. Don Wilton.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
