William "Bill" O'Shields

Spartanburg, SC- William O’Shields, 89, husband of the late Edna Seay O’Shields, died Saturday, January 11, 2014. Bill was born August 7, 1924 in Spartanburg, SC to the late William Henry and Blanche Pettit O’Shields. He honorably served his country in the US Army and was retired from Siemens Industry Inc., after 25 years of service. Bill was a mason, member of Arcadia Lodge #285 AFM Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner. He was a devoted husband, father, and Christian and was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, William “Billy” O’Shields, Jr. (Penny) of Moore, SC; his daughter, Cynthia Lowe (Jack) of Blythewood, SC; a sister, Jean Malone of Spartanburg, SC; three grandchildren, Gillian Lowe of Columbia, SC, Deidra Foster (Jason), and Caleb O’Shields (Hollie) both of Spartanburg, SC; and four great grandchildren, Logan and Ada Foster, Will and Anne Marie O’Shields. In addition to his wife, Bill is predeceased by two brothers, Albert “Dick”, and Frank O’Shields; and two sisters, Lillian West, and Katherine O’Shields. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 14th, 1:00-2:00pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church. A funeral service will begin at 2:00pm in the sanctuary. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. In remembrance of Bill, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 350 N. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
