Moore, SC – Doris Anderson Hollifield, 88, died on February 6, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
Doris was born on June 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Franklin Todd and Anna Gaston Anderson.
She graduated from Spartanburg Junior College in 1942 and was employed by Easter Airlines. She worked as a substitute teacher at Reidville Elementary School for many years and was a reading tutor at Spartanburg Technical College.
She was a member of Roebuck Presbyterian Church.
Doris was devoted to her family and church family and will be missed by all who knew her charming laugh and ready smile.
She was predeceased by her daughter Anna Susan Hollifield, her husband W.C. Hollifield and her brother John Gaston Anderson.
Surviving are her son, Richard Hollifield and wife Susan of Moore, and her grandchildren Cassie Knight and husband Michael of Greenville and John Hollifield and wife Jessica of Anderson. “Gigi” will be missed by her beloved great-grandchildren, Harrison, Emilee and Caleb Knight and Gracie and Wilson Hollifield.
Doris is also survived by two brothers, Franklin Todd Anderson and wife Rita and Thomas Newton “Bill” Anderson and wife Mary of Woodruff, numerous nieces and nephews, and a dear friend and helper Lois Johnson.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Nazareth Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Reverend Ray Bobo. The family will receive friends immediately following the service from the graveside.
