Frances "Nanny" Burrell Murray

Pacolet, SC- Frances B. Murray, 84, wife of the late Reverend Yancy Murray, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at her home. Born March 25, 1930 in Rock Hill, SC, Frances was a daughter of the late John and Viola Smith Knighten. She was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and served as the Secretary Treasurer and played the piano. “Nanny” was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and will be sorely missed. Frances is survived by her sons, Larry Carter of Greer, SC, Ricky Burrell and Reverend Tim Burrell (Cindy), both of Pacolet Mills, SC; a daughter, Sheila Carter (Jimmy) of Lockhart, SC; a sister, Linda Morton of Sylvania, GA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by three brothers, John, LeRoy, and Harold Knighten; and one sister, Elise Mabry. The family will receive friends Monday, May 19th, 2:00-2:45pm at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 3:00pm, officiated by Reverend Don Parris, Reverend Tim Burrell, Reverend Bill Yon, and Reverend Ray Southerland. Interment will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, 390 Limestone Street, Pacolet, SC 29372.
