Donald E. AnthonySpartanburg- Donald Edward Anthony, 77, husband of Sue Smith Anthony, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2014. Born October 11, 1936, in Spartanburg, SC, Donald was the son of the late Paul C. and Bertie Poole Anthony. He was a loving husband for 50 years, father to three children, and grandfather to six children. Donald was retired from Firestone and Spartanburg Steel after 35 years of service. He was an avid gardener, an active member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, and the New Boys Sunday School Class. Donald honorably served his country in the US Army.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Brian Anthony (Mickie) of Canton, Georgia, Steven Anthony of Spartanburg; a daughter, Stacey Patton of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Virginia, Jacob, Bennett, and Savannah Anthony, Jada Grace Patton, and Logan Anthony; two brothers, Howard Anthony (Betty) of MD, Carroll Anthony (Brenda) of Spartanburg; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Lefcort of NY, and Lila Anthony of Spartanburg. The family will receive friends, Monday, June 23, 2014, in the parlor of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Funeral services will immediately follow in the E. Gibson Davis Chapel.Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In remembrance of Donald, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church Television Ministries: 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family is at the home.
