Fairy Lee Mulligan

Spartanburg, SC- Fairy L. Mulligan, 99, of White Oak Estates, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a short illness. Born February 27, 1915 in Walhalla, SC, Fairy Lee Mulligan was the daughter of the late William Christopher Columbus Hammond Chastain and Ola Eula Barnette Chastain. She later lived in Greenwood, SC and graduated from Greenwood High School. She also lived in Charlotte, NC where she met and married her husband, Tom Mulligan. Mr. and Mrs. Mulligan lived in Florida before moving to Gaffney, SC where they lived for many years. While in Gaffney, they owned and operated the Shamrock Motel. After retirement, they moved to White Oak Estates. Mr. and Mrs. Mulligan enjoyed traveling, as their travels took them to all 50 states and abroad. As a result of their travels, Mrs. Mulligan made many friends across the country that she enjoyed hearing from over the years. She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Mulligan is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; one brother; five sisters; three nieces; three nephews, including most recently her beloved nephew, James W. “Bill” Hancock, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC. She is survived by four nieces, Dr. S. Anne Hancock, Norma Lee Hopkins, both of Greenwood, SC, Mrs. Quanita Warren Martin of Hickory, NC, and Mrs. Dorothy Chastain Lorenz of Charlotte, NC. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 25th, 4:30PM in the Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, NC, conducted by Reverend Randy Wright of Rock Hill, SC.
