Gladys Burnett Vaughan

Roebuck, SC- Surrounded by her loving family, Gladys Burnett Vaughan, 87, of Roebuck ran victoriously into the open arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 30th. Gladys was welcomed in Heaven by her husband Charles; her parents George and Dora Burnett; and her siblings Merita Tomlin, Louise Davis, Evelyn Painter, Albert & George Burnett. Those here waiting to see her in Heaven are her children; Ruby Scruggs (Jack) of Gaffney, Vickie Martin (Ernie) of Roebuck, and Charlie Vaughan (Debbie) of Roebuck; along with her 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her beloved sister Joyce Bishop; and several nieces and nephews from the Burnett and Vaughan families. Gladys loved music and was always willing to step up to help out others, even after she was retired from her career in nursing at the age of 62. She was able to use her love of music to glorify God by serving 3 years as the music director of her church, Beaver Hills Baptist Church. Her family will be available for you to share your favorite memories of Gladys with them at a gathering of her friends and family on Wednesday, July 2nd, 6:00-8:00pm at Dunbar Funeral Home in Roebuck. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3rd, 11:00am at Beaver Hills Baptist Church. Burial following will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Spartanburg SC. Special thanks to the nieces, nephews, and Restorative Care Staff at Spartanburg Regional who comforted her during her passage to Glory. Family will be at the homes of Vickie Martin in Roebuck and Ruby Scruggs in Gaffney.
