Robert Leroy Hayes

Moore, SC- Robert L. Hayes, 77, husband of Bertie Lee Hayes, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Born August 24, 1936 in Lumberton, NC, Bob was a son of the late Emory and Alberta Kit Hayes. Bob honorably served his country in the US Air Force. He was an electrical technician by trade, and retired from Allied Signal Inc. (Honeywell). He enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing and coaching little league baseball. Bob was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Bob is survived by three sons, William Hayes (Lisa) of Chesnee, Ronnie Hayes, and Steve Hayes, both of Spartanburg; two daughters, Wanda H. Baker (Tom) of Inman, and Barbara H. Oakley of Moore; his sister, Kay Byrd (Bobby) of Florence; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter in-law, Charlotte Gardner Hayes; four brothers; three sisters; and a special grandson, Allen West. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 5th, 10:00-11:00am at Dunbar Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:30am in Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home.
