James W. "Pete" Petree

James Wilburn "Pete" Petree Spartanburg - Pete Petree, 90, husband of Helena Upshaw Petree, died Thursday July 3, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was a son of the late William R. and Mary Allred Petree of Winston Salem, NC. After graduation from RJ Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, NC, Pete served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corp. He attended High Point College in High Point NC.  Pete was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was retired from Universal Packaging after 60 years in the corrugated packaging Industry. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by many. In addition to his cherished wife of 65 years, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Joye (Chuck) of Anderson SC, Jan Spencer (Rusty) of Dunn, NC; granddaughter, Tara Joye Twitty (Matt) of Charlotte NC; grandson, Mac Joye (Jeanie) of Atlanta GA; three great-grandchildren, Riley Twitty, Charlie Joye, IV and Indianna Joye. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Petree. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.  A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.  A reception of friends will be held at Summit Hills at Noon.
