Mary Gwen Harvey

Pacolet, SC- Mary G. Harvey, 83, wife of Elmer Mitchell Harvey, died Thursday, July 17, 2014. Born January 26, 1931 in Landrum, SC, Mary was the daughter of the late Lester Avance and Dora Mae Chapman Smith. She was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Waterloo, SC and attended Bethesda Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was involved in the Youth ministry. Mary is retired from the Middle School of Pacolet. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by her sons, Doug Harvey of Pacolet, SC, and Keith Harvey of Spring City, TN; grandchildren, Joshua, Dustin, Tyler, Dalton, Eric, Justin, and Zachary Harvey, Jacob Hodge, Sharon Cochran, Katie Wright, and Megan Santora; thirty great grandchildren; and four brothers, John, Ernest, Paul, and Charles Smith. Mary was predeceased by a son, Gary Harvey; three brothers, Donald, Olin D., and David Smith. The family will receive friends Monday, July 21st, 5:00-7:00pm at Dunbar Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 22nd, 4:00pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend John G. Smith.
