Spartanburg, SC- Q. Stanford Halliday, Jr., passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his home.
Born April 2, 1926 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Quincy S. Halliday, Sr. and Emilie Heinitsh Halliday. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy in the Pacific and a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. “Big Stan” was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Clemson University where he played basketball and was captain of the golf team. He remained a lifelong member of the Clemson’s Letterman Association and IPTAY organization. In 2004, he received the John Flemming Grover Henry Lifetime Achievement Award from Spartanburg Area Clemson Club. After a career in textiles, he retired from Draper Corporation and Rockwell International. “Big Stan” was also a member of the Spartanburg Country Club where he was a two time club golf champion. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and Clemson football games with family and friends. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
“Big Stan” is survived by two sons, Quincy Stanford Halliday, III (Dana) and Charles Emmett Halliday; grandchildren, Quincy (Danielle), Margo, Emilie, and Emmett Halliday.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane French Halliday.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 14th, 11:00AM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Dr. Tom Evans and Reverend Joanne Hull.
A reception will follow the service at The Piedmont Club.
The family will be at the home of son, Stan Halliday, 126 Marlin Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
