Spartanburg, SC- Julian Boyd Mercer, 49, passed away, after a long battle with cancer, on Monday, September 15, 2014.
Boyd was a son of the late Francine Garris Gay and Walter Julian Mercer. He moved around for many years before settling in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he graduated from Dorman High School in 1984. Many knew him from the family business, The Art Gallery, where he worked for over 30 years. Boyd was an avid hunter and supporter of wildlife conservation, and he was also a member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and Spartanburg Practical Shooting Association where he gave many years of hard work, time, and energy to make it the best possible. Boyd Mercer was a great husband, father, and man and he will be missed by so many. However, his ideas and legacy will follow him for eternity.
He is survived by wife, Lisa Yoder Mercer; son, Garris Boyd Mercer; daughter, Callie Parks Mercer; and two brothers, Joel Barton Mercer and Jeremy Brett Mercer.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 19th, 5:00-7:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 20th at 11:00AM at Spartanburg Practical Shooting Association, Lime Road, Moore, SC. (Casual attire)
