Jessie Brown West

Woodruff, SC- Jessie B. West, 53, of 769 Three Wood Lane, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 28, 2014. She fought a long, fierce battle with breast cancer, never losing her indomitable spirit. Jessie was born December 17, 1960, in Winchester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Frederick R. Brown, Jr. and Evelyn Mary Roxburgh Capers. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1984 and retired in 2003 from a long and rewarding career at Milliken & Company in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She served as president of the Spartanburg Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. Jessie was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Spartanburg. Jessie was a five-time ladies champion at Three Pines Country Club in Woodruff, where she was an active member of the Ladies Golf Association. Most recently she worked tirelessly to create and direct a fundraising tournament to benefit ALS research in memory of the golf pro and general manager of Three Pines. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lane; step sons, Jeffrey and Scott; a sister, Deborah; brothers, Fred, Douglas, and Ian. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and by her beloved Kira. Jessie carved her name on our hearts. We will miss her every day. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 3:00PM at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, officiated by Reverend Thomas M. Rickenbaker and Reverend Deacon Fergie Horvath. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Outreach Program, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 400 Dupre Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
