Jennings Lee Hill, Sr.

Spartanburg, SC- Jennings Lee Hill, Sr., 85, husband of the late Ann McFall Hill, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Born April 23, 1929, Jennings was a son of the late Rueben and Irene Tabor Hill. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a retired truck driver from Yellow Freight. Jennings was a Mason and member of the Whitney Lodge #264, and a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church. Jennings is survived by his son, Jennings Hill, Jr. (Sylvia) of Burnsville, MN; two daughters, Susan Hill (Larry) of Spartanburg, SC and Vicki Lewis (Hildred) of Pickens, SC; and two grandchildren, Andrew Hill of Spartanburg, SC and Alan Jennings “A.J.” Hill of Burnsville, MN. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by brothers, Hicks, U.G., Rufus, Plato, Newell, and Pierce Hill; sisters, Minnie Garner, Viola Hightower, Pauline Pettit, and Mable Howard; and granddaughter, Amanda Victoria Lewis. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 25th, 1:00-2:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00PM, officiated by Reverend Jack Dodds. Burial will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
