Martha Cloud Chapman

Spartanburg, SC- Martha C. Chapman, 92, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 28, 1922 in Lilesville, NC, Martha was a daughter of the late Fayette Jeffries and Mary Dryer Cloud. She was married in 1945 to James Alfred Chapman, Jr., who predeceased her in 1983. Martha is survived by three daughters, Mary Chapman Webster and her husband, Joseph Andrew Webster, III, Marshall Chapman, and Dorothy Chapman Josey and her husband, Julian Cleon Josey, MD; four granddaughters, Catherine Chapman Webster, Frances Webster Peter and her husband, Todd, Martha Cloud Josey, and Rachel Lancaster Josey; a sister, Elizabeth Cloud Mallory; and her dear friend, Charlie Palmer. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, James Alfred Chapman, IV, in 1996; and brothers, Fayette Jeffries Cloud, Jr., and Percy Dryer Cloud. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 27th, 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, 393 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Interment will be private in Oakwood Cemetery.
