James Garland "Jim" Crouch, Jr.

Spartanburg, SC- James G. Crouch, 82, husband of the late Rose Armstrong Crouch, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Born November 9, 1932 in Leaksville, NC, Jim was a son of the late James G. Crouch, Sr., and Mildred Stone Crouch. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and honorably served his country in the US Army Intelligence. Jim started his professional career in retail. He was a Vice President of Aug W. Smith Co. and proprietor of Crouch & Co. Jim was a licensed Realtor and co-owner of Rose Crouch Realty. He served as past president of Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce and the Country Club of Spartanburg. Jim was a past member of Spartanburg Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg. He held various leadership positions with the Spartanburg Board of Realtors and MLS of Spartanburg. He is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen Crouch Richardson of Charlotte, NC, Kelly Crouch of Frisco, TX, and Margaret Crouch Crowley and her husband, Kevin Glenn Crowley, of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jerome Johnson Richardson, III, Rose Katelyn Richardson, and Claire Crouch Richardson, all of Charlotte, NC, Kevin McClancy Crowley and Margaret Garland Crowley, both of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Nathan Perry Crouch of Staunton, VA; brothers in-law, Thomas Francis Armstrong, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Louisville, KY, and John Murphy Armstrong and his wife, Margaret, of Spartanburg, SC; sister in-law, Maureen Armstrong Watson and her husband, Gerald, of Columbia, SC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Jim was predeceased by his step mother, Ellice Bounds Crouch; son in-law, Jerome Johnson Richardson, Jr.; and sisters in-law, Shirley Dean Crouch and Mary Ellen Armstrong. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 21st, 11:00AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church conducted by the Reverend Timothy M. Gahan, 290 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Summit Hills for their care and support. The family will be at the home of Margaret and Kevin Crowley, 1095 Andrews Farm Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
