Spartanburg, SC- Bobby Ivey, 79, husband of Jean Lee Ivey, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 15, 2014.
Born January 20, 1935 in Spartanburg, SC, Bobby was a son of the late James Russell and Vera Harvey Ivey. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force. Known for building homes in the Spartanburg area, Bobby was the proprietor of Bobby Ivey Construction & Realty, Inc. In addition, he served on the board of trustees at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for more than 14 years where he was instrumental in the expansion of the hospital satellite offices. Bobby was a devoted supporter of Wofford College Athletics.
In addition to his wife, Jean, Bobby is survived by his son, Robert “Robin” Glenn Ivey, Jr.; daughter, Lee Ann Ivey Greene and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Rob and Carolyne; a brother, David Ivey; and sister, Tiny Ivey Deaton.
He is predeceased by a brother, Billy Joe Ivey; and sister, Kitty Ivey Coleman.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 18th, 5:00-7:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 19th, 12:00PM at First Baptist Church Spartanburg, officiated by Dr. Don Wilton.
A private burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
