Ralph Willard Longshore

Moore, SC- Ralph W. Longshore, Sr., 85, husband of Gwen Huckaby Longshore, died Saturday, January 10, 2015. Born September 26, 1929 in Newberry, SC, Ralph was a son of the late Oscar Bradhom Longshore, Sr. and Maude Floyd Longshore. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force and retired after 23 years of service. During that time, he guarded Air Force One for 10 years. Ralph also served on the ABC Commission in South Carolina for 26 years. In addition, he worked closely with the Spartanburg County Sherriff’s Department, City Police, and Highway Patrol. Ralph was a Mason and Shriner and enjoyed fishing, golf, and serving as a Mobile Meals volunteer. He was a member of Lewis Methodist Church in Newberry, SC. Ralph will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Ralph is survived by his sons, Ralph Longshore, Jr. and his wife, Doyla, Brad Longshore and his wife, Tammie, and Dan Longshore and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Ralph Longshore, III, Shannon Longshore, Celeste Longshore, and Langston Longshore; step grandchildren, Andy Clark and his wife, Miranda, and Kelly Clark Cisewski and her husband, Bryan; seven great grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Lou Parris. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 13th, 6:00-8:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14th, 1:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Dr. Tim Williams, Reverend Dr. Ondra Black, and Reverend Carrol Caldwell. Burial will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605 or Roebuck Baptist Church, P O Box 490, Roebuck, SC 29376.
