Paula Strahan Stapleton
Paula Strahan Stapleton, 64, of Roebuck passed away January 18 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, she was preceded in death by her parents Paul H. Strahan and Hattie Moorman Strahan and her sisters Frances Hughes and S. Gayle Strahan. Ms. Stapleton was a graduate of Dorman High School and earned a BA from Limestone College and a M.Ed from the University of South Carolina. She worked as a school teacher in Spartanburg County School Districts 3, 6 and 7 until she retired after 29 years of service. Her greatest pleasure in life was being there for her students and teaching the total child. She was formerly a member of St. James UMC, the Spartanburg Junior Woman’s Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ms. Stapleton is survived by her daughter Amy R. Stapleton and daughter-in-law Jennifer C. Stapleton of Washington D.C. and son Joshua P. Stapleton of Inman. Known as Nana, she was adored by her grandchildren, Samuel, Cash and Ruby. Ms. Stapleton was well loved and respected by her surviving sisters Donna S. Miller of Largo Florida and Neldra S. Keller of Enoree and her six nieces and nephews and fourteen great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will occur at Dunbar Funeral Home at 2pm on March 7, 2015. Receiving of friends will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Bethlehem Center of Spartanburg.
