Doreene Daye Simpson Greene

Roebuck, SC- Doreene Daye Simpson Greene, 63, wife of John C. Greene, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Born September 22, 1951 in Warwick, RI, Dorrie was a daughter of Yvonne Mumford Simpson and the late Albert Austin Simpson. She was a radiology technician and honorably served her country in the US Army, serving in Korea. Dorrie was a lifetime member and past Post Adjutant of VFW Post 9539 and Amvets Post 75. She enjoyed crocheting and loved photography. She was the state photographer for SC VFW. In addition to her mother, and husband of 38 years, Dorrie is survived by her daughter, Sarah Austin Greene of Kalispell, MT; a brother, Christopher Simpson of Davenport, IA; sisters, Deborah Dietrich (Larry) of Lakeland, FL, Rebecca Conner (Jeff) of Maryville, TN, and Elizabeth Atkinson (Scott) of Louisville, TN; mother in-law, Nancy Jane Greene of Roebuck, SC; brother in-law, Billy Greene of Arlington, VA; and sisters in-law, Susan Plemmons and Beth Finney, both of Spartanburg, SC, and Emily Pettit of Roebuck, SC. In addition to her father, she is predeceased by her father in-law, Bobby H. Greene; and brothers, Albert Austin Simpson, Jr., Alec Dowe Simpson, and Keith Alan Farrington Simpson. A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday, January 30th, 12:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Dr. Timothy Williams. Visitation will follow. Burial will be held at a later date in Rock Island National Cemetery.
