Steven Boyd "Steve" Melton Roebuck, SC - Steve, Tool Pouch, the Bird Man Melton, 54, husband of Kelley Flynn Melton, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born August 9, 1960, Steve was the son of Boyd Hugh and Daisy Dean Melton. He was a graduate of Spring Valley High School. Steve was a brilliant machinist. He worked at Precision Bearing and Machine and previously with Master Machine Works. He claimed he could fix anything from the crack of dawn to a broken heart. Steve was a true biker. He had a passion that few could rival and rode year round, no matter the weather. Sabrina, "The Biker Bird", was his constant companion and, together, logged thousands of miles. He was a friend to all and selflessly helped anyone in need. He could always be counted on to organize and help out on any toy run, benefit, or bike game. He was a unique, free spirit and his smiling face will missed by all who counted on seeing him at his regular haunts in Lake Lure and Lake Bowen. He especially doted on his loving wife, Kelley. And while Steve was a friend to many, he will also be remembered as a loving, inspiring, and incredible father. He raised three daughters on his own and never missed a school function or opportunity to instill his unwavering values in each of them. In past years he spent many weekends with his Borrowed Time Racing friends at various race tracks doing what he loved. He had the rare opportunity to ride an antique Harley Davidson on the track at Daytona Speedway, and loved every minute of it. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. His presence in this world made as big a difference as his absence will. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Trisha Melton (Wayne Peterson) of Roebuck, Leah M. Woody (Paul) of Boiling Springs, and Lacy M. Perry (Travis) of Roebuck; as well as a sister Sheri M. Ross of Lyman, and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, February 20th 4:00 -7:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21st at 11:00 AM at Dunbar Funeral Home followed by a ride and reception at the Mid-City Shrine Club.
