Dorothy Johnson Howard

Spartanburg, SC- Dorothy J. Howard, 84, wife of the late Horace Mitchell Howard, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Born May 6, 1930 in Startex, SC, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Hugh and Minnie Mae Hughes Johnson. She was a childcare provider for many years. Dorothy was a member of Loree United Methodist Church in Wellford, SC. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Lori Whitlock of Inman; daughter in-law, Belva Howard of Spartanburg; brother, Charles Johnson of Taylors; sister, Elizabeth Suttles of Arcadia; eight grandchildren, Laura Turner, Cindy Glen, Cheryl Munro, Hope Howard, Cassidy Whitlock, Cole Whitlock, Attalie Cantrell, and Trace Cantrell; four great grandchildren, and one on the way. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by two sons, Allan and Mitchell Howard; and ten siblings. A Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 22nd, 2:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 3:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eden Terrace Alzheimer’s Education Fund, 2780 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
