Spartanburg, SC- John “Jack” Thomas Eli Cribb, husband of Katherine Warner Cribb, died at his home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Florence, SC, on April 9, 1930, Jack was the youngest child of Troy Hannibal Cribb and Annabel Hamilton Cribb. He grew up in Spartanburg and was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Cribb was retired from Troy H. Cribb and Sons, where he specialized in fresh produce marketing, especially peaches.
Jack was one of the founding members of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry as well as Junior Warden and Senior Warden. At the time of his death, he was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Spartanburg.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his four children, Mary Cribb of Flat Rock, NC, John Cribb and his wife Kirsten of Spartanburg, Warner Cribb of Murfreesboro, TN, and Troy Cribb Klouda and her husband Tom of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, Caitlin Shannon, Alison Cribb, Molly Cribb, Sarah Cribb, Mira Klouda, and Osh Klouda; and one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Jackson. In addition, he is survived by his sister Annabel Cribb Moses and her husband Herbert of Raleigh, NC, his sister-in-law Dicksie Cribb of Spartanburg, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Troy Kenneth Cribb.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Comfort Keepers for their patience, kindness, and loving care to Jack. Slava Arabadzhi, Elaine Prysock, Denise Martz, and Imani Payden were special blessings to him throughout his long months of illness. The family also appreciates the kindness of Spartanburg Regional Home Hospice, especially that of Jack’s nurse, Tracy Wiseman.
There will be a private graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Reverends Charles Vensel and Mike Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, March 6th, 4:00-7:00PM at the home of John and Kirsten Cribb, 700 Otis Boulevard, Spartanburg.
