Spartanburg, SC- Edith T. Turner, 95, wife of the late Roy E. Turner, died Sunday, March 15, 2015.
Born April 13, 1919 in Spartanburg, SC, Edith was a daughter of the late John Henry and Fannie Hembree Thomas. She participated in the P.T.O, League of Women Voters, and volunteered at Spartanburg General Hospital. Edith was a founding member of Providence Presbyterian Church.
Edith is survived by her son, Mannon Turner (Ann) of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Sondra T. Hodge (Larry) of Tryon, NC; sister, Audrey Scales of Cowpens, SC; six grandchildren, Fred Lockman, Jr. (Katie), Suzanne Hall (Terry), Shawn Justice (Rodney), Viki Sweat (Bert), Clay Turner (April), and Matthew Turner (Nicole); fifteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by two grandchildren, Timothy Lockman and Mannon Turner, Jr; and five sisters, Ethel Koon, Clara Black, Elizabeth Beville, Violet Green, and Norma Thomas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 18th, 2:00-3:00PM at Providence Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the sanctuary, officiated by Reverend Dr. Daniel Coleman.
Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the home.
