Virginia Becker Heffner

April 27, 1918 — March 19, 2015

Clinton, SC- Virginia Becker Heffner, widow of P.D. "Boo" Heffner, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015. A woman of considerable beauty, grace, and talents, she was born April 27, 1918 to Worther Guy and Lillian May Becker of Chesterfield County and Petersburg, VA. She received her teaching degree from Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA. Upon completion of overseas military service, Mr. Heffner took his bride to his hometown of Spartanburg, SC, where they settled and raised their family. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church there and enjoyed membership in many clubs. Mrs. Heffner excelled as a seamstress, bridge player, pianist, gardener, homemaker, and was a formidable golfer. Her later years were spent in Clinton, SC. She is survived by daughters, Marcia Heffner Hudson ( John Grier, Jr.) of Clinton, SC and Virginia Heffner Boone( Robert B.) of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Dale Hudson Howard (William Bostwick) of Clinton, SC, Michael Miller Love (Lilian) of Blacksburg, VA, and Robert Reynolds Heffner Love of Richmond, VA; great grandchildren, Dale Garrison Howard, Barrett Howard Justice( Jonathan), and Marcia Grier Howard Marr (Robert); and a great-great grandchild, William Lewis Justice. She was predeceased by a grandson, John Grier Hudson, III; her brothers, Worther Guy and Reynolds Gates Becker; and sister, Cornelia Lynn Coleburn. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the devoted staff at Langston House in Clinton and the utmost thankfulness to her personal caretaker and friend, Rosa Peake. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 23rd, 12:00PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
