Spartanburg, SC- Verner Tate, better known as “Rose”, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015.
Born in Greenville on December 13, 1950, he was son of the late Verner Tate Sr. and Martha Sitton. He was the loving husband of Dottie Tate for almost 41 years. Verner was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Wofford College. He worked for Adidas for many years and also served as the music minister at Skylyn United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Dottie, Verner is survived by his son, Shelton Tate and his wife, Ginny; along with his grandchild, Gamble Tate. He also leaves behind a sister, Kitty Alverson of Pendleton; niece, Jennifer Alverson of Beaufort; and nephew, Jonathan Alverson of Pendleton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29th, 1:00PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A service will follow at 2:00pm in the sanctuary, officiated by Reverend Claire Ripley and Deacon Leslie Ferguson Horvath. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
