Robert Lee Whitley

Spartanburg, SC – Robert Lee Whitley, 88, husband of the late Giovanna Fitzgerald Whitley, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Born in Washington, DC, Robert was a son of the late Joseph O. Whitley and Mamie Young Whitley Sullivan. He honorably served his country in the US Army. Robert was an active member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Spartanburg. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord. Robert is survived by his sons, Robert A. Whitley (Diana) of Catonsville, MD, and Charles M. Whitley of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Carolyn W. Huckeba (Jeff) of Woodruff, SC; two grandsons, Robert A. Whitley (Mandy) and Matthew C. Whitley, both of Catonsville, MD; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Robert is predeceased by a brother, James Whitley; and two sisters, Betty McMillian and Barbara Willis. The family will receive friends Friday, May 29th, 6:00-8:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. A viewing will also be held Sunday, May 31st, 6:00-8:00PM at Ambrose Funeral Home, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd, Lansdowne, MD 21227. Services will be Monday, June 1st, 11:00 am at Ambrose Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5829 Ritchie Hwy, Brooklyn Park, MD 21225.
