Thurmon Donald "Hap" Johnson, Sr.

Arcadia, SC- Thurmon D. “Hap” Johnson, 79, husband of the late Betty Jo Gosnell Johnson, died Friday, May 29, 2015. Born November 14, 1935 in Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Charlie Horace and Annie Mae Morrow Johnson. He honorably served his country for 8 years in the US Army. Mr. Johnson retired from Springs Industries after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Thurmon D. “Don” Johnson, Jr., (Tonia); three daughters, Rita O. Sizemore (Keith), Donna J. Rhodes (Rob), and Angelia J. Harman (Charles), all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Zachary B. Johnson, Lauren R. Hawkins, Justin M. Harman, R. Nicholas Rhodes, Austin T. Johnson, and Samuel Harman; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Sherry Simmons of Dothan, AL. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tiffany Dawn Owens. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 31st, 5:00-7:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Rd, Roebuck, SC 29376. Graveside services will be held Monday, June 1st, 3:00PM in Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St, Roebuck, SC 29376, officiated by Reverend Dr. Jennings Putnam. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Angelia Harman, 201 Northwood Circle, Wellford, SC 29385.
