Jane Klim Hughes
Spartanburg – Jane Klim Hughes, 94, wife of the late John P. Hughes, Sr., passed away on June 3, 2015.
Born in Westfield, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Tomlain Klim. Jane, a devout Catholic, was the owner of Pic-A-Book for 35 years and she loved her customers. She especially loved the children that would come in and would give them a book to encourage them to read. Jane was very active in her service to many organizations like the March of Dimes, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a member of Altrusa and a Past President of the Catholic Women’s Club of South Carolina. Jane gave many young musicians a chance to show their talents when she started the March of Dimes Shindig to raise money for the March of Dimes.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Hughes Warner; sons, Mark Bryant Hughes, and Phillip Luke Hughes (Kay).
Jane was a loving grandmother to Angel Greer Hjarding, Joshua Patrick Hughes, Mark Bryant Hughes, Jr., Kirby Michelle Hughes, Carson Hughes and Michael Bryant. She was blessed to have great grandchildren Patrick Hjarding, Erik Hjarding, Carter Hughes, Pearl Hughes and Hank Hughes.
She was predeceased by her son, John P. Hughes, Jr.; and her six siblings, Anne Kerr, Joseph klim, Henry Klim, Rufy Klim, Mary Gaddy, and Theadora Alfsen.
Her life will be celebrated at a mass at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall following the mass.
