Calvin L. Blanchard

Roebuck- Calvin Lamar Blanchard, 70, died Thursday, September 17, 2015. He was formerly from Roebuck, but he spent the last few years of his life in NC living with his daughter. Calvin was born in Spartanburg, a son of the late James Tony and Alice Abernathy Blanchard. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved horses and coon hunting. Calvin was of the Baptist Faith. Calvin is survived by a son, Justin Landon Blanchard (Andrea) of Sauk Rapids, MN; a daughter, Angel Blanchard Cehen (Kerry B.) of Mill Springs NC. He is also survived by brothers Carol Blanchard of Roebuck and Tom Blanchard (Patricia) of Spartanburg, a sister Shirley Ann Berrong of Spartanburg. Calvin will be missed by his loving grandchildren Nic Riddle, Columbus, NC; Kerry H.(Elise) and Kyle Cehen of Mil Springs, NC; Tim Cehen (Bandetta) of Johnston, SC; and Lexianna Blanchard of Sauk Rapids, MN. He also leaves behind 8 Great-Grandchilden; and two ex-wives, Cleo Ruppe, mother of his children, and Kay Fisher. Calvin was predeceased by sons, Scottie Ray, Calvin Lamar Jr.; brothers, Oscar, Donald, Frank and Daniel Blanchard; and a sister Beatrice Scruggs. A Memorial Service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:00PM officiated by Reverend Manning Strickland. The Family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Calvin’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 901 S. Pine St. Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at their respective homes.
