Robert Gerald Cooper

Robert Gerald Cooper Spartanburg – Robert Gerald Cooper, 82, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015. Born on December 23, 1932, Gerald was the son of the late Sam and Cora Dunaway Cooper. Gerald faithfully served his country in the US Airforce. He was a brick mason, later also working with concrete and in other areas of construction until retirement. Gerald was a member of the Arcadia Masonic Lodge #285 and also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sara Taylor Cooper of Spartanburg; his son, Sam Cooper (Susan); daughter, Melody Cooper; and grandchildren, Jonathan and Grace Cooper, all of Woodruff. Gerald was predeceased by his siblings, Margaret Linder, Dorothy Harrill, Earlene Thompson and Brenda Pianella. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. In remembrance of Gerald, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church; 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
