John Burlon Vess

Spartanburg, SC- John Burlon Vess, 82, husband of Diane Terese Acampora Vess, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 20, 2015. Born May 20, 1933 in Converse, SC, John was a son of the late Oren Burlon and Georgia Harrilson Vess. He honorably served his country in the US Airforce, where he received the Airman’s Medal and Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam, and later retired. John also retired as a Railroad Detective for Norfolk Southern. He was a member of Turning Point Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sons, John Ricky and Craig W. Vess; step-daughter, Joy Gallant; a grandson, Jacob Daniel Vess; and a brother, Edward George Vess. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patty Evelyn Brown Vess; a sister, Jeannette Vess Burnett; and a great granddaughter, Cyrah Nicole Vess. A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 28th, 1PM at Turning Point Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Dr. Todd Black.
